Back up your data
Before you put your smartphone up for sale, you should think of backing up your data on first. Nowadays, we use our phones for everything from taking photos and videos to contacts all other kind of documents.
Some even go as far as storing very confidential notes, like debit or credit card pin numbers and passwords to email accounts etc. I definitely wouldn’t recommend storing payment information in a phone at all but thats up to personal preference.
Photos and videos make great memories so you should probably backup those regardless, but it should be mandatory to perform a backup prior to selling your smartphone, so that you can safely proceed with wiping the phone before you sell it.

For the iphone is easily done by icloud:

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > tap your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup

Click ‘Back Up Now’ (you need to be connected to Wi-Fi for it to start)

For Android users, you can backup via a Google account so let Google drive handle the backups for you. Settings might vary!

    1. Go to Settings > Accounts and select your Google account
    2. Choose from the list of the things you can backup including contacts, photos and so on.
    3. Go back to Settings > Backup & Reset

Tap ‘Backup my data’ and ensure ‘Automatic restore’ is checked too.You will return to this menu to Reset and wipe data.

To Reset on iphone:

Go to Settings > General > Reset

Tap Erase All Content and Settings

To Reset Andorid

  1. Go to Settings > General Management > Reset
  2. Tap Factory Data Reset
